Choosing by grating type
The upper clamp engages the mesh from above, so its shape has to match the mesh of the grating. For sheet-metal profile gratings, where a standard clamp finds no mesh to grip, the C-clip is the answer; it is listed hot-dip galvanized and electrogalvanized.
Ordering by type number
Each shape carries a number — upper part 4, 6, 8, 23, 29 and others. A replacement can therefore be ordered by its type number instead of by description, which is what makes this category useful for maintenance. Most parts are hot-dip galvanized; single types are available in stainless steel 1.4571.

What does a complete grating fastening consist of?
Four parts: upper clamp, lower clamp, screw and nut. As individual parts they can be combined freely; the same combination is also available pre-assembled as a fastener set.
Is a grating clip the same as an upper clamp?
Yes. Grating clip, retaining clip, grating holder and similar terms all describe the same part that engages the mesh from above. In the ARNELL range it is called the upper clamp, its counterpart from below the lower clamp.
When do individual parts make more sense than a set?
When a special solution is being built, an existing set is being extended, or a single part needs replacing. For a standard installation a pre-assembled set is faster.
Which materials are the individual parts available in?
In galvanized steel and in stainless steel (V2A/V4A). Stainless steel has proven itself for plastic gratings and aggressive environments; hot-dip galvanized steel is the standard outdoors.
